Simple Adjustments to the Home

• Use tactile dots, plasticized markers or puff paint to label switches and appliances such as microwaves or dishwashers.

•  20/20 pens make dark lines that are easier to read.

• Create specific spots for everything.

•  Edges of stairs should have a contrasting color so that the person knows where each step begins. Paint or colored tape works well.

• Lighting should be non-glare and shadow free. Natural light is usually best.
